Cause officially opened

From Rome 'SM Bulletin' (Jan 20, 2017) reports:

'On Jan 26 a meeting will take in the archbishop's residence in Lyons to formally open the beatification process of our founder.

'The meeting will be presided over by the Vicar General of the archdiocese and attended by the Chancellor, the
Episcopal Delegate, the Promoter of Justice, the Notary of the Cause, and three historical experts. The theological experts will take their oaths of office in Paris.

'The Marists will be represented by Frs Bernard Thomasset (vice-postulator of the Cause), Paul Walsh and Paul Loubaresse.

'The agenda for the first session will be as follows: 

  • welcome by Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, archbishop of Lyon
  • presentation on aspects of Fr Colin's work by Bernard Thomasset
  • the formal reading of the nihil obstat granted by three dicasteries in Rome
  • procedural matters
  • swearing of the oaths
  • a time of prayer
